A tragic road accident in the Dhanasar area of Dera Ismail Khan claimed the lives of 11 members of the same family on Friday. The incident occurred when a passenger vehicle traveling from Khanozai in Balochistan to Dera Ismail Khan suffered brake failure on a steep route.
According to initial reports, the vehicle went out of control and crashed, leaving seven people dead on the spot. The victims included five women, one man, and a child. Rescue 1122 officials rushed to the site, recovered the bodies, and provided immediate medical assistance to the injured.
Three people, identified as Darya Khan, Ahmed, and 10-year-old Yousuf, were given first aid at the scene before being shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital. Doctors later reported their condition as stable.
Four other victims who were critically injured were taken to the hospital through local help, but sadly, they could not survive and later died during treatment. This raised the death toll to 11, making it one of the most devastating traffic tragedies in the area in recent months.
Rescue 1122 confirmed that all bodies were transported to the hospital after completing legal formalities. Ambulances moved most of the victims, while local sources assisted in shifting others. Authorities expressed deep grief over the loss of lives and stressed the importance of road safety measures, especially on steep and high-risk routes.
This heartbreaking incident highlights the dangers of technical failures on difficult terrains and the urgent need for strict vehicle safety checks to prevent such tragedies in the future.
