A 16-year-old driver struck and killed two girls in Islamabad’s Red Zone on Tuesday after crashing his luxury car into their scooter. Police said the teenager, Abu Zar Asif, was driving at high speed when he hit the victims, who were taken to the hospital but did not survive.
The driver was detained at the scene, and a local court later approved a four-day physical remand for him. The victims, identified as Samreen and Tabinda Batool, were laid to rest after funeral prayers at the Imam Bargah in Jinnah Gardens.
A case has been registered at the Secretariat Police Station on the complaint of Adnan Tajammul. According to the police report, the girls were returning from the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) when they were struck near Secretariat Chowk. Investigators say negligence, speeding, and reckless driving led to the fatal crash.
