An American woman has gone viral after revealing she ended her 25-year marriage because her husband ate the last piece of cake she had saved.
According to foreign media reports, the story was shared on Reddit’s “AITAH” forum, where the 46-year-old woman described a long history of tension with her 48-year-old husband.
For their anniversary, he planned a trip hoping to mend their relationship — but chose a hotel they had both agreed never to visit. Despite her efforts to stay positive, his temper flared during the trip.
After dinner one night, the couple ordered cheesecake for dessert. The woman saved her portion in the fridge, only to find it gone the next morning. When confronted, her husband first denied and then admitted to eating it.
She wrote that the cake incident was symbolic of their marriage — her husband constantly disregarded her boundaries and took what was hers, leaving her feeling undervalued and unappreciated.
The post struck a chord online, with thousands of Reddit users expressing support for her decision to end the relationship, calling it a moment of realization rather than a trivial overreaction.
