3.5 Million Benefits for People in 5 Cities of KP From Abd-funds
The Asian Development Bank (ABD) has granted Rs98 billion loan for the Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit project to boost municipal services in the five divisional capitals of the province.
The ADB allocated Rs53 billion to the Peshawar BRT project. Under the KP Cities Enhancement Project (KPCIP), the Manila-based ADB announced $385 million on Friday for the improvement of municipal services in five divisional headquarters of the province, including Peshawar, Abbottabad, Kohat, Mardan, and Mingora. The grant will be used to enhance water supply systems, sewage, and drainage, as well as sewage treatment plants. In addition, the funding will be used to provide integrated solid waste management systems and build green urban spaces in all five cities.
The secretary of the Local government and rural development department, Shakeel Ahmed Mian, stated that the Rs98 billion loan would be utilized over a five-year period. He also added that the money would be used for other projects across the province’s five divisional offices. The ADB said that the assistance would benefit around 3.5 million individuals in five locations. The award will be implemented to improve access to clean and safe water, waste management and sanitation services, green urban areas, and gender-sensitive amenities.

In Phase VII of Peshawar’s Hayatabad Township, there are multiple projects, including a 93-Kanal park, according to the ADB website. The women’s business development center in Kohat, the Mardan Ring Road greenbelt, the bigger water supply scheme and surface water treatment plant in Mingora, the extension of the water treatment plant and water supply scheme in Abbottabad, and the development of Shimla Hill Park in Abbottabad.
The plan also includes Bagh Naran Park in Hayatabad Peshawar, and the KPCIP project will feature solid waste treatment facilities in all five towns.
