3G4G Users in Pakistan Reach 135 Million by June

The number of 3G/4G users in Pakistan has surged, reaching nearly 135 million by the end of June 2024, according to the latest data from the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA). The report highlights an increase in cellular subscribers, growing from 192.32 million at the end of May 2024 to 192.53 million by June’s close.

The data shows that Next Generation Mobile Service (NGMS) penetration in Pakistan also rose, climbing from 55.07 percent in May to 55.61 percent in June. However, cellular teledensity, representing the number of connections per hundred individuals, remained steady at 79 percent.

In terms of individual operators, Jazz saw its 4G user base grow from 46.547 million in May to 47.295 million by the end of June, although its 3G users declined from 3.145 million to 3.041 million during the same period. Zong experienced a similar trend, with its 4G subscribers increasing from 36.220 million to 36.665 million, while its 3G users decreased from 2.026 million to 1.983 million.

Telenor’s 4G user count also rose, going from 24.419 million at the end of May to 24.680 million by June, despite a drop in 3G subscribers from 1.700 million to 1.588 million. Meanwhile, Ufone’s 4G users expanded from 15.306 million to 15.652 million, even as its 3G base declined from 2.278 million to 2.238 million by the end of June.
