Even law enforcement officials are among the worst offenders of traffic laws, according to Lahore Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Athar Waheed.
The CTO claims that 93 police officers received fines for breaking traffic laws in a single day. Athar Waheed stated that individuals entrusted with enforcing the law must set an example, saying, “The mission is clear, no one is above the law.”
The CTO took a firm stand and declared that attorneys would not be immune from traffic laws either. “The bar is free to go on strike if they want to, but all riders, including attorneys, will have to wear helmets,” he declared.
Over 27,000 people have been arrested by traffic police for a variety of traffic infractions since CTO Athar Waheed took over.
Everyone is bound by the regulations, whether they are lawyers, police officers, or regular citizens. “Accountability must start at the top if we want safer roads,” he said.
