97% Work on Pak-Afghan Transit Trade Deal Completed
Islamabad: The Afghanistan-Pakistan Transit Trade Agreement (APTTA) has been extended for six months, and 97% of its work has been finished, according to the secretary of the Ministry of Commerce.

In a meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Commerce, by Senator Zeeshan Khanzada, he reported that all trade-related difficulties with Afghanistan had been resolved.
The secretary emphasized that Pakistan and India were exporting Basmati rice and that progress was being made to register Pakistan’s Basmati rice in the European Union in response to a request from local legislators.
He stressed that Khewra salt was manufactured exclusively in Pakistan and that the right to export it would now be safeguarded under the Geographical Indication (GI) law.
The gathering was informed that government policies of strong consumption growth rather than exportable surplus, low labour productivity, low priority for e-commerce, IT exports, and diversification of export markets contributed to years of stagnating exports.

The chairman of the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), Ahsan Ali Mangi, informed the committee on the organization’s mission, functions, structure, and performance.
The committee was informed that the TDAP was organizing training and information dissemination events for the Amazon model and choosing 100 small and medium-sized businesses for product development and assistance.
