Balochistan is referred to as Pakistan’s Fruit Basket due to its richness of natural resources. Grapes, cherries, and almonds account for 90 percent of the province’s total production. 60% of peaches, pomegranates, and apricots, 34% of apples, and 70% of dates are exported by Balochistan.

The entire area of fruit plantations is 149,726 hectares, with an average yearly yield of 889,490 tons. Each year, Balochistan exports hundreds of tons of apples, generating more than 80% of the high-quality apples.
Experts believe that crop-specific zones and fruit processing units can maximize Baluchistan’s vast yield potential. Experts recommend dividing the province into zones in order to produce high-quality fruit. In recent years, the fruit farming business in Baluchistan has expanded significantly.
Apples and dates are the most popular fruits exported to other countries. Due to the fact that 80 percent of apples are grown in Balochistan, Pakistan enjoys a prominent position in the worldwide apple industry. Even though the government obtains revenue from apples, no treatment facility for their preservation has ever been built.

Balochistan alone produces over one million tons of fruit. This loss is detrimental to the nation and to the small farmers that rely only on these resources. If the provincial administration of Balochistan strives to improve management, the revenue of local farmers will increase.
