Aamir Khan is coming back to the big screen with his new movie Sitaare Zameen Par, which will be released on June 20, 2025. The film also brings back Genelia D’Souza to Hindi movies after a long time.
While many fans are excited to see Aamir and Genelia together, some people are talking about the 23-year age gap between them. Aamir is 60 years old, and Genelia is 37. In the movie, they play a married couple.
On social media, people have pointed out that Genelia acted with Aamir’s nephew, Imran Khan, in the 2008 movie Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na. Now, many years later, she is acting with Aamir himself.
Aamir spoke about this in an interview. He joked, “Yes, I thought about it. But Imran is close to my age now.” He also said that in the movie, both characters are supposed to be in their early 40s, and Genelia is around that age in real life.
He explained that modern technology helps actors look younger or older on screen. “I’m 60, but with VFX, age doesn’t matter much anymore,” he said. He gave an example of how actors used makeup in the past to change their look.
Sitaare Zameen Par is a sports drama directed by R.S. Prasanna. It’s a remake of the Spanish film Champions. Aamir plays a coach who trains children with special needs. The movie will also feature Darsheel Safary, who worked with Aamir in Taare Zameen Par, in a special role.
Even though the age gap has started some debate online, most fans are happy to see Aamir and Genelia back—and are looking forward to the movie’s positive and heartwarming story.
