Bollywood actor Aamir Khan has responded to his brother Faissal Khan’s recent claims that he was mistreated and kept confined at home for more than a year. The Khan family has issued a joint statement calling the allegations hurtful and misleading, showing a rare public show of unity in what has long been a private matter.

The statement, signed by several family members including Reena Datta, Junaid Khan, Ira Khan, Kiran Rao, Mansoor Khan, Nuzhat Khan, Imran Khan, and others, said every decision about Faissal was made collectively and in consultation with medical experts. It stressed that all actions were taken out of love, compassion, and concern for his emotional and psychological well-being.

“We are distressed by Faissal’s misleading portrayal of his mother Zeenat Tahir Husain, his sister Nikhat Hegde, and his brother Aamir. As this is not the first time he has misrepresented these events, we feel it is necessary to clarify our intentions and reaffirm our solidarity as a family,” the statement read. The family also appealed to the media to show empathy and avoid turning the issue into gossip.

In his interview with Pinkvilla, Faissal alleged that his family had labelled him schizophrenic, claiming he was dangerous to society, and accused Aamir of keeping him under “house arrest” in Mumbai for over a year. He described it as a “chakravyuh” where the whole family was against him, adding that he had prayed for his father’s help but could not reach him. He said Aamir eventually allowed him to move to another home after a year.

The strained relationship between the brothers is not new. Years ago, Faissal was involved in a legal dispute over signing powers and underwent a mental health evaluation at JJ Hospital, where doctors declared him fit. The two last worked together in the 2000 film Mela.

Faissal’s latest remarks have reignited public interest in their long-running tensions, while Aamir Khan and his family maintain that their actions were meant to protect him, urging the public to approach the matter with understanding.
