Actress Memoona Qudoos has sparked controversy with her remarks about Pakistan’s entertainment industry, claiming that Lahore harbors more “wrong practices” than Karachi.

Speaking on a podcast, Qudoos alleged that homosexuality, public parties, and other questionable behaviors are more visible in Lahore compared to Karachi. She said such activities should remain private rather than being openly displayed.

The actress described a stark difference between the two cities, saying that while Karachi also has its share of problems, people there are less likely to flaunt them. She added that individuals in Lahore often “show off,” pretending to have wealth they do not actually possess.

In contrast, Qudoos said Karachi’s entertainment scene is marked by extreme professionalism. “There is so much professionalism in Karachi that they have left humanity behind,” she remarked.

She also made a controversial claim about relationships in Karachi, alleging that men often approach women with “deals,” offering material benefits in exchange for becoming girlfriends. According to her, this transactional approach reflects the harsh realities of the industry.

Qudoos further addressed the issue of the casting couch, admitting that exploitation exists for both women and men. She said that harassment and pressure to exchange sex for work remain widespread problems in the entertainment world.

“Respect is not only for women. Men are also victims of harassment, and wrong things happen to them, too,” she emphasized.

Her comments have triggered debate online, with many weighing in on her portrayal of the entertainment cultures in Lahore and Karachi.
