US authorities have charged an Afghan man in Texas with making violent threats after he allegedly posted a video online claiming he intended to build a bomb and carry out a suicide attack. The Justice Department said on Tuesday that 30-year-old Mohammad Dawood Alokozay of Fort Worth shared the threats on TikTok, X, and Facebook on November 23.

In the video, Alokozay is accused of praising the Taliban and threatening to attack Americans. FBI Dallas special agent Joseph Rothrock said the arrest was made after members of the public quickly reported the footage, allowing investigators to act before any violence could occur.

Attorney General Pamela Bondi said Alokozay entered the United States during the Biden administration. According to officials, he also stated online that he wished to kill Americans. If convicted of making a threatening interstate communication, he faces up to five years in federal prison.

His arrest comes just days after a separate incident involving another Afghan national. Last week, two National Guard members were shot near the White House. A 29-year-old Afghan man, Rahmanullah Lakanwal, has been charged with first-degree murder in that case. Lakanwal had previously served in a CIA-backed Afghan force and came to the United States through a resettlement program after the US withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021.

Following the latest incident, President Donald Trump said his administration plans to halt asylum decisions “for a long time.” In a social media post, he wrote, “We don’t want those people,” signaling a tougher stance on Afghan migrants and asylum seekers.
