After India decided not to play against the Pakistan Champions in the 2025 World Championship of Legends (WCL), former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi stated that cricket and politics should be kept apart.
“Players should remain good ambassadors of cricket,” Afridi stated in a statement on Sunday. The Indian players had come to England and even attended training sessions before pulling out of the match against Pakistan, he said, expressing disappointment at the current state of affairs.
“It would have been better if the Indian players had informed organisers in advance about their unwillingness to face Pakistan Champions,” he stated.
“The situation changed abruptly,” Afridi stated. In a single day, the whole situation changed. The stance of a single player changed everything.
“Even the Indian players themselves were disappointed with how matters unfolded,” Afridi stated.
