A case has been filed at Saddar Bairooni police station in Rawalpindi against senior leaders and workers of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for allegedly attacking journalist Tayyab Baloch outside Adiala Jail.
According to police officials, the complaint was submitted by Tayyab Baloch, who stated that PTI workers physically assaulted him while he was covering events outside the jail. After his report, the police registered a First Information Report (FIR) and began legal action.
The FIR names PTI founder’s sister Aleema Khan, party lawyer Naeem Panjotha, and Intisar Satti as accused. In addition, nearly 40 unidentified PTI workers have also been nominated for their alleged involvement in the assault.
The case has been registered under five sections of the Pakistan Penal Code. These include Section 506 for criminal intimidation, Section 147 for rioting, Section 149 for unlawful assembly, Section 382 for theft after preparation for causing hurt, and Section 427 for mischief causing damage.
The incident has raised concerns about the safety of journalists, as media workers continue to face risks while reporting in sensitive political situations. Police say investigations are ongoing to identify all individuals involved in the attack and ensure accountability.
