Android 14 Will Bring Satellite SMS to All Phones
With its most recent iPhone models, Apple popularised satellite messaging, enabling you to send out emergency SOS signals when WiFi or cellular connectivity are not available. Samsung will shortly present its satellite messaging system.
To allow everyone to benefit from the unique feature, Google, however, has its own ideas in the works. All Android 14-powered phones will soon receive satellite SMS functionality from the industry behemoth of search, providing you have the necessary hardware, of course.

Following its initial rollout, the feature will initially be made available to Samsung and Pixel phones before expanding to other Android phones. This discovery is not unexpected because Samsung’s Galaxy S22 Ultra has previously tested satellite calling.
The scope of Android 14’s satellite messaging is still unknown at this time. It’s also important to note that because every Android phone is made differently, even if it runs the most recent version of Android, it’s possible that some OEMs won’t add satellite messaging at all.

The formal release of Android 14 is also rapidly approaching. As usual, it will debut alongside Google’s upcoming Pixel smartphones, which are scheduled to go on sale in October of this year.
The Google Tensor G3 chipset, which will this time be supplied by TSMC rather than Samsung, is rumoured to be present in Google Pixel 8 smartphones, which are also being discussed.
