Hollywood actress and humanitarian Angelina Jolie has taken a firm stand once again in support of Palestinians, using her social media platform to raise awareness about the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza. In a recent Instagram story, Jolie reposted a message from Doctors Without Borders, describing Gaza as a “mass grave” not only for Palestinians but also for humanitarian workers struggling to deliver aid amidst the ongoing Israeli military offensive.

The message, which has since gone viral, condemned the intensified Israeli air, land, and sea attacks that have ravaged Gaza since October 7, 2023. These attacks have led to massive destruction of Palestinian infrastructure and civilian life, drawing international condemnation. According to reports, over 51,000 Palestinians, including a large number of women and children, have been killed during the ongoing military operations.

Jolie, known for her decades-long humanitarian work and former role as a UNHCR special envoy, criticized the blockade that continues to restrict the flow of critical humanitarian aid into Gaza. The blockade has made it nearly impossible for medical and relief organizations to respond to the crisis, worsening the already catastrophic conditions on the ground.

Her post has sparked outrage among far-right Israeli supporters online, but has been widely praised by human rights advocates and global audiences. Jolie’s continued focus on the suffering of Palestinians aligns with her long-standing commitment to displaced populations and victims of conflict.

As the humanitarian crisis in Gaza deepens, international legal bodies have begun to respond. In November 2024, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defence Minister Yoav Gallant, accusing them of war crimes and crimes against humanity. Simultaneously, Israel is also facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), amplifying international scrutiny over its military actions in the region.

Jolie’s statement contributes to a growing wave of global criticism demanding accountability and urging the international community to intervene and end the violence. As Gaza continues to face unprecedented devastation, voices like hers are bringing attention to a conflict that has claimed tens of thousands of lives and destroyed essential infrastructure, including hospitals, schools, and homes.
