A Pakistani national was killed in Dubai late Saturday night after debris from an aerial interception fell onto a vehicle in the Al Barsha area, according to the Dubai Media Office.
Authorities said the victim, who was working as a driver, died when fragments from the interception struck the vehicle. Officials did not specify which projectile had been intercepted or where it had been launched from.
This is the second reported death of a Pakistani national in the United Arab Emirates since tensions escalated in the region involving Iran, the United States, and Israel.
Earlier, another Pakistani worker was killed in Abu Dhabi when debris from an intercepted missile fell in a residential area. The victim was later identified as Mureed Zaman, a resident of Bannu who had been working in the UAE for several years.
In a statement, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation expressed condolences to the family of the Pakistani national who lost his life.
The ministry also condemned attacks targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure, stating that such actions are prohibited under international law, and expressed solidarity with the victim’s family.
