Cricket infrastructure in Sindh is set to receive a major boost as Niaz Stadium in Hyderabad is expected to undergo priority renovation and upgrades following the city’s inclusion in the Pakistan Super League.
Hyderabad has officially become a PSL city after FKS Group secured a new franchise during the league’s recent team auction held in Islamabad. The franchise was acquired for Rs. 175 crore, making Hyderabad Sindh’s second PSL host city after Karachi.
With the city now on the PSL map, focus has shifted toward upgrading Niaz Stadium so it can meet the requirements of hosting a high-profile T20 tournament. Officials and stakeholders believe improvements will be necessary to enhance seating, player facilities, broadcast infrastructure, and overall match-day experience for fans.
Representatives from FKS confirmed that the Hyderabad-based team’s name has already been finalized, but it will be revealed later at a formal ceremony. According to the group, the event will be held in coordination with Pakistan Super League officials and other key stakeholders.
The inclusion of Hyderabad is being seen as part of the PSL’s wider expansion strategy, aimed at taking top-tier cricket to more regions of the country. For Hyderabad, it also marks the return of national-level cricket attention to a city with a strong cricketing history and passionate fan base.
In a related development, Jinnah Stadium in Sialkot is also expected to undergo major upgrades after the city secured the league’s eighth franchise. The Sialkot team was awarded to OZ Developers with a winning bid of Rs. 185 crore, exceeding the reserve price.
With new cities joining the league, PSL expansion is expected to bring fresh investment, improved stadium infrastructure, and wider fan engagement across Pakistan in the coming seasons.
