Another Rainfall Spell to Grip Pakistan Before Eid-ul-Fitr

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast that a westerly wave is anticipated to hit the upper portions of the country on April 15 and extend to the western and central parts later.

According to the latest PMD advisory, under the influence of this weather system, rain-dust/thunderstorm with isolated heavy falls and hailstorm is expected in Kashmir (Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber, Mirpur) and Gilgit-Baltistan (Diamir, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Ghanche, Shigar) from 15-20 April.

Chitral, Dir, Swat, Mansehra, Buner, Kohistan, Shangla, Haripur, Abbottabad, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Swabi, Mardan, Bajaur, Murree, Galliyat, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, and Jhelum are all expected to have the similar weather from 15-20 April.

On April 17 and 18, areas in Kurram, Waziristan, Kohat, Karak, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Quetta, Zhob, Barkhan, Qila Saifullah, Qillah Abdullah, Chaman, Pishin, Ziarat, Sibbi, Naseerabad, Khuzdar, Kalat, and Makran should expect rain, dust, and thunderstorms with isolated hailstorms.

Light rain-dust/thunderstorm is also expected in Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, Multan, D.G.Khan, Rajanpur, Bahawalpur, Raim Yar Khan, Bahawalnagar, Layyah, Bhakkar, Khushab, Mianwali, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Sahiwal, Okara, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Kasur, Sheikhupura and Nankana Sahib on 17 and 18 April.

The PMD has issued a warning that dust-windstorms and hailstorms might harm standing crops, notably wheat, as well as loose infrastructure.

On April 18 and 19, landslides and flash floods could happen in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Gilgit Baltistan, Kashmir, Murree, and Galliyat. During the anticipated timeframe, travelers are urged to use increased caution.
