Apple’s Vision Pro headset may not have created a huge impact yet, but the company is still determined to mixed reality technology. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple could release a more affordable version of the Apple VR headset next year. This new, affordable Vision Pro is predicted to cost around $2,000, which is significantly lower than the $3,500 price of the current Vision Pro.

The downsized cost will come from using less expensive materials, a less powerful processor, and removing the EyeSight external eye display. Apple’s focus on offering an affordable Vision Pro shows its determination to bring mixed reality technology to a wider audience.
Looking further ahead, Apple is planning a second-generation Vision Pro by 2026, and possibly even smart glasses similar to Meta’s Ray-Bans by 2027. Camera-equipped AirPods might also be part of the company’s plans.
In addition to its VR developments, Apple is working on new smart home devices. A budget-friendly, iPad-like display for home use is reportedly in the works, along with a more advanced tabletop device featuring a robotic arm. Meanwhile, Apple is preparing to launch a new MacBook Pro powered by the M4 chip later this month, capable of managing advanced AI tasks. Alongside these, new iMacs and Mac desktop computers with fresh colors are expected to hit the market.
Apple’s constant creation shows its purpose to lead in VR technology, smart home devices, and computing. The affordable Vision Pro could be a game changer for mixed reality, making it more accessible to consumers worldwide.
