Apple postpones release of next-generation iPhone Air

Apple will reportedly delay the launch of its next iPhone Air model, pushing it beyond the fall 2026 release window, according to a report by The Information. The move comes amid weaker-than-expected demand for the device, which was first introduced in 2025.

The iPhone Air was launched as a slimmer and lighter alternative within the iPhone lineup. While the design appealed to users who preferred a lightweight phone, the reduced size came with smaller battery capacity and fewer camera features, which may have affected demand.

Industry analysts say sales of the model have been lower than Apple initially projected.

Apple has not issued an official comment, and Reuters was unable to independently confirm the report.

In October, Apple announced that the iPhone Air would go on pre-order in China after local telecom operators approved eSIM service support. Unlike most previous iPhones, the iPhone Air in China is offered without a physical SIM tray, relying entirely on eSIM technology.

The delay suggests Apple may be reassessing its strategy for the slim-design smartphone category and evaluating consumer response before moving ahead with the next version.
