Apple has scheduled its annual hardware event for September 9 at 10 a.m. PT, where it is expected to unveil the iPhone 17 series, alongside updates to the Apple Watch and AirPods.
iPhone 17 Lineup
The new iPhone family is rumored to feature bigger displays, stronger cameras, and a refreshed design. A long-discussed iPhone Air could also debut as the company’s thinnest-ever device, replacing the Plus model.
- iPhone 17: May include a 6.3-inch, 120 Hz display, a 24 MP selfie camera, and new colors like purple and green. Starting price: around $800.
- iPhone 17 Pro: Expected to introduce a horizontal camera bar and a lighter aluminum frame. Price: about $1,100, starting at 256GB storage.
- iPhone 17 Pro Max: Minimal updates expected, aside from a slightly thicker frame for a larger battery. Estimated cost: $1,250.
- Accessories: Apple may launch new “TechWoven” cases with optional crossbody straps.
iPhone Air
The rumored iPhone Air is expected to be just 5.5 mm thick, slimmer than any current iPhone and even Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Edge.
- Specs: 6.6-inch display, single rear camera, and possible limitations in speaker placement.
- Battery: Its ultra-thin profile may reduce capacity, though a battery case is rumored.
- Price: Between $899–$950, available in black, silver, and light gold.
Apple Watch Updates
Apple is also preparing major upgrades for its smartwatch line:
- Apple Watch Ultra 3: Faster charging, possible 5G and satellite connectivity, and a larger display.
- Series 11: May add blood pressure monitoring and sleep apnea tracking, though features could be delayed.
- SE 3: Expected to remain the entry-level option, with a slightly bigger screen and a possible plastic edition.
Pricing:
- SE 3: $250
- Series 11: $400
- Ultra 3: $800
AirPods Pro 3
Apple is also expected to debut the AirPods Pro 3 with a slimmer design, touch-based controls, and a more compact case. The pairing button may be replaced with a tap-to-pair feature.
What’s Next
Analyst Mark Gurman has suggested that the iPhone 17 launch marks the beginning of a three-year redesign cycle, ultimately leading to Apple’s first foldable iPhone in 2026.
