Pakistan’s Olympic champion Arshad Nadeem admitted an untimely injury disrupted his training ahead of the World Athletics Championship 2025, where he fell short in the men’s javelin final on Thursday.
In a message on X (formerly Twitter), Nadeem thanked fans for their support and expressed disappointment at not reaching the podium. “I’ve been dealing with an injury since July 4, which affected my preparation and fitness. Despite this, I gave it my all. I promise to return stronger and make you proud,” he wrote.
The 27-year-old recorded throws of 82.73m and 82.75m, with two fouls, leaving him outside the top eight cutoff and ending his medal hopes.

Trinidad and Tobago’s Keshorn Walcott clinched gold with 88.16m, followed by Anderson Peters of Grenada (87.38m) and American Curtis Thompson (86.67m), who secured the USA’s first men’s javelin medal since 2007. India’s Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra finished eighth at 84.03m, while Sachin Yadav placed fourth with a personal best of 86.27m.
Despite the setback, Nadeem vowed to “keep pushing for Pakistan,” highlighting his determination to bounce back in future competitions.
