The Ziarat assistant commissioner, Muhammad Afzal, and his teenage son were killed by kidnappers, with their bodies found in a remote mountainous area of Harnai.
According to officials, the remains were recovered near Zard Aloo, where they had been dumped in rugged terrain after the killings. Following orders from Additional Secretary Home, Hamza Shafqat, a joint search operation was launched by the police, Levies, Frontier Corps, and district administration under the supervision of Additional Deputy Commissioner Harnai, Saleem Tareen. The bodies were recovered during this operation.
Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti strongly condemned the incident, vowing that those responsible for murdering innocent people and disturbing peace in the province would be brought to justice. He paid tribute to Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Afzal and his son, calling their deaths a sacrifice for the cause of peace in Balochistan.
The tragic incident occurred on August 10, when Assistant Commissioner Afzal was on a picnic with his family in the Zizari area of Ziarat. Armed men abducted him, his 16-year-old son Muhammad Bilal, a driver, and a bodyguard. While the kidnappers later freed the driver and the bodyguard, Afzal and his son were taken to an undisclosed location and never returned.
This killing has sparked outrage and grief across the province, with demands for strict action against those behind the abduction and murder.
