Federal Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb has confirmed Pakistan’s continued commitment to economic reforms under the $7 billion Extended Fund Facility (EFF) with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
He took part in a virtual meeting with IMF officials to discuss budget plans for 2025–26 and ongoing reform efforts. The session was also attended by Finance Secretary Imdad Ullah Bosal and other senior members of Pakistan’s economic team.

Pakistan welcomed Iva Petrova as the new IMF Mission Chief, while thanking outgoing chief Nathan Porter for his past support.
The IMF team assured Pakistan of its continued cooperation. Key topics discussed included improving tax collection, managing state-owned enterprises, advancing privatisation, and reducing government spending.
Talks between Pakistan and the IMF are ongoing to finalise the next budget and align on economic reform measures.
