Australia have announced a provisional 15-man squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, which will be hosted jointly by Sri Lanka and India.
Australia cricket team will be led by Mitchell Marsh, who has been named captain for the tournament. Pat Cummins, Cameron Green and Cooper Connolly have returned to the squad after missing the recent T20 series against India.
The provisional squad includes Mitchell Marsh, Xavier Bartlett, Cooper Connolly, Pat Cummins, Tim David, Cameron Green, Nathan Ellis, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Matthew Kuhnemann, Glenn Maxwell, Matthew Short, Marcus Stoinis and Adam Zampa.

Selectors have opted for a spin-heavy combination, keeping in mind the conditions expected in India and Sri Lanka. Adam Zampa will lead the spin attack, supported by Matthew Kuhnemann, Cooper Connolly, and all-rounders Glenn Maxwell and Matthew Short.
Australia’s chair of selectors, George Bailey, said the squad was selected with subcontinent conditions in mind. He explained that the team’s recent success in T20 cricket allowed selectors to focus on balance and flexibility.
Bailey added that Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood and Tim David are recovering well from fitness concerns and are expected to be available for the World Cup. He also clarified that this is a preliminary squad and changes can still be made closer to the tournament.
Selectors chose not to include a left-arm fast bowler. With Mitchell Starc retired from T20 internationals and Spencer Johnson sidelined due to injury, right-arm seamer Xavier Bartlett was preferred over Ben Dwarshuis.
Australia have yet to announce their squad for the three-match T20 series against Pakistan, which is scheduled to take place before the World Cup.
