Babar Azam will remain an opener for the Pakistan men’s squad, according to head coach Mike Hesson, who also made it clear that there has been no talk of Babar taking up wicketkeeping responsibilities.

“There has been no conversation with Babar Azam regarding wicketkeeping,” Hesson told the reporters. He is just seen by us as an opener. He added that Pakistan’s problems in the T20s are due to problems in the batting department and that no hitter has been told to play with a strike rate of 150.

Hesson praised bowler Hasan Ali’s recent performances and stated that he will be going to the West Indies with the team. “Hasan Ali is a fantastic cricket player. We have offered others an opportunity in the absence of some fast bowlers.

He clarified, “Players who fit in with the international plans will be given more opportunities.”

Hesson made the following statement regarding the bowling unit: “Shaheen Shah Afridi is a world-class bowler.” Regretfully, Haris Rauf is injured and cannot be with us. Salman Mirza is listed as Hasan Ali’s substitute.

“I am a member of the selection committee,” Hesson said in reference to the process of choosing the team. Out of the 20 players chosen by the committee, the coach and captain choose the last 15 to present to the chairman.
