Baluchistan’s Roads ‘Key Priority’ to Improve Connectivity
Islamabad: According to news reports, the development of road infrastructure in Balochistan is a top priority for the government in order to improve connectivity of Gwadar port with other parts of the world. This announcement was made by the chairman of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Authority, retired Lt. Gen. Asim Saleem Bajwa.

According to reports, General Bajwa stated that 60% of building work has been completed on the 106-kilometer Basima-Khuzdar road (N-30) project when he released images and a map of under-construction roadways on Twitter.
By the end of the year, the aforementioned road—which is predicted to have cost PKR 11.749 billion—should be finished.

The start of the Hoshab-Awaran road development was also announced by Mr. Bajwa. The 146-kilometer Hoshab-Awaran road project is a vital component of the CPEC’s central axis, which connects Sindh and Gwadar Port.
The development of the road project is predicted to cost PKR 20 billion, and it would take three years to finish.
The CPEC Authority Chair stated that South Balochistan road developments are now being prioritized in order to strengthen Gwadar’s connection to the North.

Moreover, an official disclosed additional road projects finished under the CPEC Authority:
- 449-km Hoshab-Surab road (N-85)
- 235-km-long Surab-Quetta road (N-25)
- 193-km Gwadar-Hoshab road (M-8)
- 250-km Ratodero-Khuzdar road (M-8)
