Bangladesh Women secured a commanding seven-wicket win over Pakistan in the ICC Women’s World Cup match at Colombo’s R. Premadasa Stadium on Thursday.
Chasing a modest target of 130, Bangladesh reached 131/3 in the 32nd over. Rubya Haider anchored the chase with a solid 54, while Pakistan’s Fatima Sana, Diana Baig, and Rameen Shamim claimed a wicket apiece.
Earlier, Pakistan won the toss and opted to bat but struggled against Bangladesh’s bowling attack, collapsing for 129 in 38.3 overs.
Speaking after the match, Pakistan skipper Fatima Sana admitted that losing quick wickets early derailed their innings. She noted that the pitch favoured fast bowlers and vowed that her team would bounce back strongly in the upcoming fixtures.
