Bangladesh have named a 16-member squad for their upcoming T20I series against Pakistan, marking a fresh leadership chapter with Litton Das officially appointed as captain. The five-match T20I series, set to begin on May 25 in Pakistan, will see offspinner Mahedi Hasan serve as vice-captain. This decision comes as part of Bangladesh’s strategic preparations ahead of the 2025 Asia Cup and the T20 World Cup in 2026.

This will be Litton Das’s first full-time stint as captain in any format for the national team. The 30-year-old wicketkeeper-batter has led Bangladesh in four T20Is previously and is making a return to the international arena following a finger injury that kept him out of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), where he was signed by Karachi Kings.

The squad features a mix of returning and emerging players. Najmul Hossain Shanto, who previously captained the side, rejoins the team along with Towhid Hridoy, Tanvir Islam, Mustafizur Rahman, and Shoriful Islam. Their return is expected to add depth and balance to the side. Meanwhile, notable omissions include Afif Hossain, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Ripon Mondol, and Taskin Ahmed, suggesting a shift in strategy as the team builds toward future global events.

Before traveling to Pakistan, Bangladesh will play two T20Is against the UAE in Sharjah on May 17 and 19. These matches will serve as crucial preparation and an opportunity to test the new leadership duo in action.

The complete Bangladesh squad for the T20I series against Pakistan includes Litton Das (captain), Tanzid Hasan, Parvez Hossain, Soumya Sarkar, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Towhid Hridoy, Shamim Hossain, Jaker Ali, Rishad Hossain, Mahedi Hasan (vice-captain), Tanvir Islam, Mustafizur Rahman, Hasan Mahmud, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Nahid Rana, and Shoriful Islam.

As Bangladesh embarks on this new journey with Litton Das at the helm, the upcoming series against Pakistan will be a key test of the team’s readiness for the major international tournaments on the horizon.
