The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has officially announced a three-day holiday in celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr 2025, according to a statement released on Friday. The central bank will remain closed from Monday, March 31 to Wednesday, April 2, 2025, aligning with nationwide public holidays for the Islamic festival.
This announcement follows the federal government’s earlier declaration, approving a three-day break for all government offices across Pakistan. A notification issued by the Cabinet Secretariat confirmed that the Prime Minister has authorized public holidays for the same dates in observance of Eid-ul-Fitr.

Eid-ul-Fitr marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan, a significant religious occasion celebrated by Muslims worldwide. The exact date of Eid depends on the sighting of the Shawwal moon, and this year it is expected to fall on either March 31 or April 1, 2025.
The synchronized holiday schedule aims to facilitate millions of citizens who travel to their hometowns to celebrate the festival with family and friends. The announcement is expected to ease travel planning, banking operations, and holiday logistics across the country.
As the nation prepares for one of its most joyous occasions, citizens are advised to complete banking transactions ahead of the holiday period due to the temporary closure of financial institutions.
