Last month, Apple unveiled the new iPhone 15 series and iOS 17. The OS upgrade adds a ton of new features, but it also has a ton of issues. Because of this, iOS 17 is being adopted more slowly.
According to Mixpanel’s statistics, only 23% of available iPhone models are now running iOS 17, and only 6.0.3% of these customers have chosen to upgrade to iOS 17.0.3.
The widespread problems that iOS 17 poses, as was previously indicated, may be the cause of its slow adoption. Apple has even acknowledged one of the faults with iOS 17 that is causing the new iPhone 15 Pros to overheat.

However, this is merely one of the known iOS 17 bugs. The recently reported reverse charging issue is likely a software issue as well, as customers have already reported wireless chargers causing issues with the iPhone 15’s NFC module.
In order to address the overheating problem, Apple released iOS 17.0.3, and it appears that the patch has mostly succeeded. Uncertainty still exists on which of the other aforementioned problems the latest software upgrade resolved.
At first, there were rumors that Apple’s new A17 Pro chip or the titanium finish on the Pro models were to blame for the overheating problem. Apple, however, has denied these rumors and assured customers that a software upgrade would fix the issue.
The new iOS 17 update is still being resisted by users, and for good reason. Until Apple resolves all of the stated concerns, we advise staying away from this update totally. However, to at least fix overheating issues, if you are on iOS 17, we recommend updating to the most recent 17.0.3 patch.
