Days before Beyoncé’s four-night concert series in Atlanta as part of her continuing Cowboy Carter stadium tour, police officials announced that unreleased music by the global pop icon was stolen from a car in the city.
Hard discs with unreleased and watermarked music, intricate choreography plans, set lists for previous and prospective performances, and other private documents were stolen from a rental car that Beyoncé’s choreographer Christopher Grant and dancer Diandre Blue were using, according to the Atlanta Police Department.
Two days prior to the singer’s first performance in the city, on July 8, the event occurred.
According to reports, the rear glass of the rental black Jeep Wagoneer was damaged when it was parked next to a nearby food hall. When the passengers got back, they found that two of the suitcases were gone.
According to a police incident report, “five jump drives containing watermarked music, unreleased music, footage plans for shows past and future, and set list” were among the stolen items.
The theft of other personal belongings, such as a laptop, high-end apparel, and Apple AirPods, was also highlighted in the report. Since then, law enforcement has recovered two weak fingerprints from the car and used built-in tracking software to follow the possible location of the stolen equipment.
The suspect’s identity has not yet been revealed, despite the issuance of an arrest order. The recovery of the stolen items, especially the unreleased music, has not been confirmed by authorities.
Beyoncé’s team has not yet released an official statement. The singer is presently on her Cowboy Carter tour in Atlanta, and Monday night will be her last show there.
Given the delicate nature of the missing materials, the occurrence has caused anxiety among music industry professionals and fans. Shakira is among the many international musicians that choreographer Grant has worked with. Additionally, dancer Diandre Blue recently appeared with Beyoncé in a 2024 Super Bowl commercial promoting her Cowboy Carter album.
Beyoncé’s husband, fellow music legend Jay-Z, made an unexpected appearance at her third gig in Atlanta, highlighting the importance of the tour stop for the singer.
