Billie Eilish was the biggest winner at the 2025 American Music Awards (AMAs), which took place on Monday night in Las Vegas.
The 23-year-old singer won Artist of the Year, along with six other awards. She also won Album of the Year for her 2024 album Hit Me Hard and Soft, and Favorite Touring Artist. Billie couldn’t be at the show because she is on tour in Europe, but she sent a video message saying, “This is so crazy. I feel speechless. I wish I could be there tonight.”

She beat other top stars like Taylor Swift, Kendrick Lamar, and Morgan Wallen — none of whom were at the event either.
Gracie Abrams won New Artist of the Year for her popular song That’s So True. She also accepted her award in a video and thanked her fans for their support.
Other big winners of the night included:
- SZA – won Favorite Female R&B Artist and Favorite R&B Song for Saturn
- Becky G – won Favorite Female Latin Artist
- Beyoncé – won Favorite Female Country Artist and Favorite Country Album for Cowboy Carter. These are her first-ever AMAs in the country music category
- Post Malone – won Favorite Male Country Artist
- Kendrick Lamar – won Favorite Hip-Hop Song for Not Like Us, out of 10 nominations
The show started with a fun 6-minute performance by host Jennifer Lopez, who sang a mix of songs by different artists. Her set included Billie Eilish’s Birds of a Feather, Sabrina Carpenter’s Espresso, and Beyoncé’s Texas Hold ’Em.
The AMAs also gave special awards to music legends:
- Janet Jackson received the Icon Award and said, “I don’t consider myself an icon. I just hope I inspire others to follow their dreams.”
- Rod Stewart, now 80 years old, received the Lifetime Achievement Award and sang Forever Young. He said, “All I wanted was to sing. I didn’t care about being rich or famous.”
The American Music Awards are chosen by fan votes and were shown live on CBS and streamed around the world.
