CCOE Favors National Electricity Plan
Islamabad: The National Electricity Plan and Indicative Generation Capacity Expansion Plan (IGCEP) have received approval and recommendations from the Cabinet Committee on Energy (CCOE) for presentation to the cabinet.

The summary of the IGCEP and the National Electricity Plan 2021 were delivered by the Power Division.
The National Electricity Plan and IGCEP were approved and suggested by the committee for presentation to the government. The Legal Division’s viewpoint on a few points brought up by attendees during the discussion was suggested to the Ministry of Energy.
80–85% of the final consumer cost is accounted for by the wholesale generation cost. Thus, a detailed route map is necessary for generation planning.

The IGCEP is a 10-year plan that must be updated yearly and filed by NTDC to the regulator by April 15 every year in accordance with the regulatory framework to limit the impact of the CPPA-G on the end-consumer rates over the course of 10 years.
As a result, the Power Division suggests a set of policy presumptions for IGCEP 2021 preparation in cooperation with NTDC for CCOE consideration. Following CCOE clearance and cabinet approval, NTDC will receive instructions on how to put together the plan.
