Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) intends to implement a new transit system in Islamabad, according to the most recent information. The project is a partnership with China Railway to manage an LRT system in the nation’s capital. Recently, CDA officials met with China Railway representatives to discuss the track routes.
Chinese authorities were informed during the discussion about the rail line that runs from H-8 to Golra. The possibility of linking both LRT routes to the existing metro bus system was also discussed at the sessions. These efforts benefit the general population by providing them with high-quality, inexpensive transportation options.

LRT systems can also manage high-capacity public transportation. CDA officials anticipate a situation in which the Chinese business installs the tracks and autonomously runs the LRT system as a result of this. The transportation infrastructure in those regions that lacked this crucial capacity may undergo radical change as a result of this endeavor.
The two specific LRT routes that are currently being observed by officials are given below,
- The first route is along the Islamabad Expressway
- The second route is from the new airport to the H-8 sector
Particularly, a pre-existing railway track from H-8 to Golra will possibly be used for the LRT, as it will provide cost-effective infrastructure.
