Sewage Treatment Plants by CDA for Rawal Dam’s Contamination
According to news sources, the technical panel of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has approved the PC-1 of three Sewage Treatment Plants (STP) to stop the contamination of the Rawal Dam.

Lower Shahdara, Bari Imam, and the vicinity of Banigala are the three places designated by technical bodies for the construction of Sewage Treatment Plants. The treatment plants with a capacity of 9.62 million gallons per day (MGD) will cost PKR 3.97 billion, with the federal government funding 64% and the Punjab government contributing 36%.
The decision was made as a result of the contamination of Rawal Dam water by untreated sewage water from illegal and unregistered housing societies in the city. After being submitted to the Punjab Development Commission, the PC-1 will be forwarded to the Central Development Working Party (CDWP).

On the planning commission’s directive, the CDA solicited bids and obtained the lowest price of four firms for PKR 4 billion. As soon as the PC-1 is authorised by the competent authorities, the project will be granted, according to authorities.
