The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has successfully finished about 90% of the LED street light installation, repair, and maintenance of the existing street lights along Islamabad’s streets, service roads, and essential avenues to improve safety and aesthetics in the city.

According to a CDA source, funding for this project was approved by the authority last month. The official emphasized that the program is essential for reducing criminal activity and ensuring the city’s highways and streets are well-lit. Concerned citizens brought the issue to the attention of appropriate authorities after a recent spike in street crimes was linked to a lack of street lights in several areas of the federal capital.

“With a focus on providing civic facilities and facilitating home builders in alignment with the directives of Chairman CDA, Capt (R) Anwar ul Haq, special attention is being given to the completion of the remaining development works in sectors I, G, H, and D series,” the source said.
Current initiatives to provide enough lighting management for the population include installing streetlights in strategic sectors like G-7, G-8, G-9, G-10, I-11, I-10, and I-14. In addition, work in sectors I-16, D-12, and other places is moving quickly, indicating a comprehensive effort to satisfy the lighting demands of different areas in the federal capital.
