CDA to Begin Construction of ‘Alexander Road’ Link ISB Haripur
The road is also known as Alexander Road because of the Alexander Well, situated on the border between Islamabad and Haripur. The name of this route has yet to be officially announced, though.
According to sources, CDA has planned to open the newly constructed Margalla Avenue and the widening and reconstruction Shah Allah Ditta to Kentla Road. This 7.5-kilometer road will be built to the Kenthla Area, from which it may one day link to the Haripur Area.
“We will build this road in the Islamabad area, which will terminate close to the boundary between Islamabad and Haripur. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is building a road on the opposite side, which might be combined with our road to connect Islamabad with Haripur, according to a CDA engineer.
He said that the road’s Notice Inviting Period (NIT) cost is approximately Rs380 million and that once construction begins, it will be finished in four months.

There is currently a local road that the locals utilize. However, CDA is now prepared to reconstruct it and completely enlarge the road. The fact that it is being widened and renovated would help the area’s tourism industry since Shah Allah Ditta is also home to the age-old Buddha Caves.
To control development activities along this road’s length, it is necessary to apply strict regulations simultaneously.
“It’s fine to widen this road. However, there shouldn’t be any easing of building construction regulations. Construction was prohibited in Zone III by the current regulations. After the road is built, these regulations must be strictly followed; otherwise, a government official said the developer mafia would undoubtedly destroy the Margalla Hills’ present vegetation. He added that many wealthy and well-connected individuals owned property alongside the route.
Therefore, it is essential to guarantee that CDA guidelines are followed, and construction should not be allowed to slow down in the region.”
According to the officer, the federal government approved a package worth Rs 10 billion for development projects in rural areas a few months ago.
The CDA was tasked with carrying out development initiatives in rural areas instead of its previous focus on urban areas and the local government division of Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration. The federal government, however, instructed the CDA to launch a development package for rural areas with its financing this time.
The official stated, “In the first phase of this package, we are going to start development work worth around Rs2.7 billion, and the road in question is also included in the first phase,” adding that the road will be 24 feet wide and constructed on the model of a road that has already been built from the zoo to Monal.
It is essential to highlight that Zone III of Islamabad, situated in the center of the Margalla Hills, would be crossed by the 7.5-kilometer route. The Environment Protection Agency (EPA) has yet to grant the CDA permission to conduct this project’s environmental impact assessment (EIA).
A top CDA officer argued that an EIA is unnecessary for this project.
Since the road in question has already been built, it is familiar. It will be widened and enhanced. EIA is therefore not necessary, he stated.
The officer stated that the CDA still needs an EIA for Park Road’s continuing widening construction. The officer stated that EIA is not required for enlarging and upgrading existing roads.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will also formally inaugurate the existing Margalla Avenue from GT Road D-12, which was finished and made accessible for traffic many months ago.
According to CDA sources, preparations are being made for the prime minister to inaugurate these two projects on Tuesday.
According to an official, We have been preparing for the inauguration because we were informed that the PM will dedicate these two projects on Tuesday.
