The Capital Development Authority (CDA) declared that toll tax collection at entry points will resume after a ten-year break, which is a setback for the people of Islamabad.
This decision is an essential part of the CDA’s revenue-boosting plan, to address the Authority’s present financial difficulties.
The CDA has publicly approved this project after the Capital Development Authority completed plans to set up tax collection terminals at strategic internal entry points in Islamabad.

Following the agreement, there will be six internal entry points where toll tax-collecting terminals will be established. These include popular places like Margalla Avenue, Islamabad Expressway, Srinagar Highway, and Murree Road.
The Planning and Revenue departments of the CDA will work closely together to determine the appropriate tax rate. The decision to reintroduce toll charges, according to CDA officials, is a proactive step to increase the authority’s revenue streams and, eventually, improve infrastructure and services for locals and tourists.
The city’s residents were relieved of toll duties in 2013 when the Minister of Interior announced the closure of all tax-collecting locations on Islamabad’s internal highways.
However, the Metropolitan Corporation decided in 2019 to reinstate tolls at Islamabad entry ports. However, the decision could not be carried out.
