CDA to Develop an Economic Zone Near Rawat
ISLAMABAD, January 27, 2023- Capital Development Authority (CDA) has announced to develop an economic zone near Rawat.
Two main Pakistani governing organizations intend to establish an economic zone in the Rawat neighborhood of Rawalpindi to stimulate the local economy and company development. BOI and SEZA have developed a concept for the construction of a fully-equipped business center. A proposal will be made to CDA for the issuance of a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the acquisition of land in the vicinity of Rawat. There will be a meeting between CDA, BOI, and SEZA officials at the CDA headquarters.

The planning division of CDA has already compiled a comprehensive overview of the project. It will be referred to as the “ICT Model Special Economic Zone.” In addition, CDA has already designated 1,000 acres of property in the Rawat region. Now, BOI and SEZA have asked CDA to award this land to the Rawalpindi major economic zone.

According to the Islamabad High Court, a duly-approved NOC from CDA is required before initiating any development within the city limits of Islamabad. Consequently, the project will be presented to CDA officials. They will examine the proposal in greater detail and make a judgment appropriately. In addition, Zone 4 of Islamabad has been permitted for the development of private housing schemes and commercial developments, as well as the establishment of an industrial complex on Kahuta Road.
This economic zone at Rawat will be a component of Zone 5 near Rawalpindi District, and a second major project, Rawat Industrial Estate, is currently under construction near the Rawat Economic Zone site.
