CDA to Expedite ISB Express Highway Expansion
Islamabad: The Islamabad Express Highway expansion project is expected to move more quickly, according to recent reports from the Capital Development Authority (CDA). According to the project’s specifications, it will be finished on March 24. Within the following three months, the remaining 40% of the enlargement process will be finished, with 60% already finalized. According to certain CDA officials, the necessary cash will facilitate an accelerated process that will be finished by March. Some, on the other hand, think it’s more appropriate to expect completion by June.
According to CDA authorities, the majority of the project is finished, even if 40% of it still needs to be done. In this context, three primary bridges are the main focus. The distance between the G.T. Road and the Kak Pul is said to be over 4 kilometers. The remainder of the space is being built upon.

It is important to note that Frontier Work Organization (FWO) has been awarded the contract for the project, with a budget of PKR 10.9 billion. The extension of a 7-kilometer section from PWD Interchange to G.T. Road in Rawat is part of the contract that was given to them. It consists of the principal buildings, such as the Soan Bridge, the Japan Road underpass, and the Bhandar Bridge.
According to the sources, adding two rigid and two flexible lanes to each side of the highway is the project’s primary objective. This will facilitate individuals by reducing traffic congestion. The CDA has finished a 2 km stretch of the expressway from Korang Bridge to the PWD Interchange as another development step. A PKR 2 billion budget was used for this.
Additionally, work is currently being done to widen the railroad bridge next to the PWD Interchange. Three months is the estimated time of completion. The railway bridge project will also appear to be a milestone accomplishment for the relevant authority if that goal is met.
