He claimed that the environment wing, under the direction of Director General Environment Qaiser Khattak, had sent a directive to all environment directorate wings specifying that private companies that wanted to donate trees as part of their CSR initiatives had to limit their contributions to species or plants that could survive in the region’s temperate climate.

According to sources, the CDA is currently providing private enterprises with details about required plants, unlike in the past. As directed by DG Environment, two letters with a list of necessary plants and trees were sent on Thursday to Sui Northern Gas Pipeline and Park Enclave Housing Scheme.

The letter asked that, during the current plantation campaign, only the following plants—Arjan, Kachnar, Amaltas, Jacarande, Pilkhan, Sukhchayn, Silver Oak, Chinar, and Sukhchayn—be taken into consideration for the gift.

Meanwhile, the CDA has warned SNGPL in writing about the ongoing gas pipeline building that, although it serves the public interest, it creates environmental hazards.

In the letter, it was said that CDA and SNGPL should work together to lessen the effects of this work. It further asked that the gas-supplying business donate 10,000 trees with a minimum height of ten feet.
