CDWP Favors Two Development Projects in Islamabad
Islamabad: On Monday, the government approved two new construction projects totaling Rs 196.5 billion, including the Hyderabad-Sukkur motorway, which will cost Rs 191.5 billion and will complete a crucial gap in the eastern corridor connecting the ports of Gwadar and Karachi.

According to the Ministry of Planning and Development, the Central Development Working Party (CDWP) approved one project worth Rs 5 billion and recommended the Hyderabad-Sukkur Motorway Mega Scheme worth Rs 191.5 billion to the Executive Committee of National Economic Council (Ecnec) for further consideration.
The CDWP is tasked with giving final clearance to projects costing up to Rs 10 billion and recommending higher-cost plans to Ecnec.

The cost of the motorway project will now total Rs 191.5 billion rather than the earlier estimate of Rs 165 billion.
The NHA advised CDWP that the prequalification procedure had to be scrapped due to the low level of interest, as just one company had submitted an expression of interest.
According to the NHA, insufficient government funding and a lack of guarantees were the main reasons for the low response.

The initiative calls for the improvement of seven South Balochistan districts through the provision of machines, ambulances, and civil infrastructure.
