Cement prices across major cities in Pakistan continued to fluctuate this week, reflecting a mix of marginal increases and slight declines, according to recent market data.

In the capital city of Islamabad, cement prices inched up to Rs. 1,387 per bag, marking a modest weekly rise of 0.4 percent. This brings the annual increase to 14.6 percent compared to Rs. 1,210 in April 2024. Similarly, Rawalpindi recorded a more noticeable weekly jump of 2.1 percent, with prices now standing at Rs. 1,379 per bag—up 15 percent year-on-year from Rs. 1,199.

Lahore, one of the largest urban markets, saw a slight dip in prices this week. The cost of a cement bag fell by 1.4 percent to Rs. 1,497. Despite this decline, prices in the city have surged by 19.8 percent year-over-year, compared to Rs. 1,250 recorded in the same period last year.

In Peshawar, prices edged up marginally by 0.1 percent to reach Rs. 1,400 per bag. This reflects a significant annual rise of 16.6 percent from Rs. 1,201 in April 2024, indicating sustained upward pressure on construction material costs in the northwest region.

Karachi, Pakistan’s commercial hub, saw no change in weekly cement prices, which held steady at Rs. 1,313 per bag. However, on a yearly basis, prices have increased by 12.1 percent from Rs. 1,171, highlighting a steady upward trend in the southern metropolis.

The latest data underscores regional differences in cement price trends, influenced by local demand, supply chain dynamics, and transportation costs. As construction activity picks up pace, market watchers expect further volatility in pricing patterns across the country.
