Chery has unveiled the latest generation of its Super Hybrid plug-in hybrid technology, claiming the new system can deliver a combined driving range of up to 2,000 kilometers on a full fuel tank and fully charged battery.
The advanced hybrid setup is expected to power future models in Chery’s SUV lineup, including the Tiggo 7, Tiggo 8, and Tiggo 9. In Pakistan, Chery has already introduced the Tiggo 8 PHEV and recently launched the Tiggo 9 PHEV, while the Tiggo 7 PHEV is also planned for the local market.
At the heart of the new system is a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine paired with an electric motor. It is supported by a new 18.46 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, which the company says offers improved energy density compared to its previous generation.
Chery claims the petrol engine now achieves a thermal efficiency of 44.5 percent, while updates to the transmission further enhance overall fuel and energy efficiency.
The hybrid system will be offered in two configurations. The DHT160 variant produces 160 kW and 275 Nm of torque, whereas the more powerful DHT230 delivers 260 kW and 330 Nm.
While Chery has not yet announced a timeline for introducing the new Super Hybrid system in Pakistan, it is expected to debut in China later this year before expanding to other markets.
