Dadhocha Dam building in the Rawalpindi region was formally opened on Friday by Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi, who emphasized the dam’s vital role in meeting the region’s rising water demand.
Approximately twenty-five kilometers from Rawalpindi, the project site hosted a spectacular opening ceremony. The principal guest, Syed Mohsin Naqvi, laid the foundation stone, and then there was a thorough inspection of the ongoing construction.
After it is finished, the projected Rs 12 billion project will have achieved a major step towards satisfying Rawalpindi’s growing water needs. The dam has an outstanding 60,000/45,000 Acre-feet (AFT) of grass/live storage, and it is conveniently located 25 kilometers from Rawalpindi.

The dam is located in Rawalpindi and Kalar Saidan, spanning 16,194 kanals and 14 marlas of land. Its length is 737 feet, and its vast catchment area is 129 square miles. The dam is 123 feet tall.
According to reports, there have been considerable on-site advancements during the construction phase, with 26% financial and 12% physical progress. In accordance with the ruling of the Supreme Court, the “Right of Way” at Dadhocha Dam has almost entirely been cleared, and local landowners have been compensated at market rates.
The Dadhocha Dam is expected to be completed by November 2025. After construction is finished, the dam should provide 35 million gallons of clean water per day, which will more than satisfy Rawalpindi’s water needs as well as those of the neighboring districts.
