Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal General Syed Asim Munir has reaffirmed that Pakistan will not tolerate any cross-border terrorism originating from Afghan soil.
During his visit to Peshawar, the Army Chief held a jirga with tribal elders, praising their continued and unconditional support for Pakistan’s security forces. He paid tribute to the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) for their sacrifices in the fight against terrorism. The tribal elders, in turn, reiterated full backing for the armed forces against militant groups and the Afghan Taliban.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Field Marshal Munir stated that Pakistan desires peaceful relations with all neighbours, including Afghanistan. However, he noted that terrorist attacks from across the border persist, despite Pakistan’s patience and diplomatic efforts to promote cooperation.
He further alleged that the Afghan Taliban are supporting factions of Khawarij and Fitna al-Hind, providing assistance to these groups. The COAS vowed to eliminate all terrorists and their facilitators from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and other affected regions.
The tribal elders welcomed his firm stance, assuring their unwavering commitment to peace and declaring that the ideology of Khawarij has no place in their province.
