Committee Formed to Resolve Issues Faced by CPEC Projects
According to news reports, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) in Islamabad has announced the formation of the Pak-China Relations Steering Committee to oversee, streamline, and expedite the work on projects undertaken under the auspices of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

According to information given by the PMO, the purpose of the committee is to expedite work on CPEC projects and to eliminate obstacles and roadblocks in the completion of multibillion-dollar endeavours.
The 15-member steering committee will be directed by the Minister of Planning and Development, Asad Umer, and will include government, military, and intelligence agency representatives.
The committee will serve as an additional layer of oversight and progress monitoring, ensuring that the projects receive the necessary assistance before the reports are sent to the CCoCPEC (Cabinet Committee on CPEC), which is also chaired by Mr. Asad Umer.

The committed USD 60 billion for various power generation, communication, and infrastructure projects, but only USD 28 billion has been invested thus far, with 17 completed projects totaling USD 13 billion and another 21 projects totaling USD 12 billion in progress, indicating coordination issues have slowed development. However, the letter notes that with the formation of the committee, the pace of work will now be significantly accelerated.
