Construction of Karachi’s Red Line BRT Traffic Plan Revealed
According to press accounts, construction has begun on the Karachi Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Red Line project from Tank Chowk near Malir Halt to Safoora Chowrangi. The Sindh Traffic Police are encouraging motorists to use other routes to work (STP).

According to reports, the walkway connecting the two locations was cleaned during the initial development phase before the heavier construction work began. The STP has asked drivers to avoid the road to save time. As a result, the following vehicular traffic strategy has been issued.
- To approach Safoora Chowrangi from Malir Cantt and the Motorway, drivers should take University Road, which runs parallel to Malir Cantt Check Post No. 5, in order to access Safoora Chowrangi.
- From Tank Chowk to University Route, motorists can take Cantt Route and then Mosamiat Road to University Road.

- Cantt Road is open to Pehlwan Goth-bound traffic from Tank Chowk and Model Colony. It can alternatively travel to Johar Chowrangi through Habib University Road or to Kamran Chowrangi and University Road.
- The Red Line will run from Tank Chowrangi to Safoora Chowrangi via Race Course Road, according to Dr. Adnan Qadir, Chairman of the NED Urban and Infrastructure Engineering Department. The route would then proceed to Naumaish Chowrangi through Karachi University Road and New MA Jinnah Road.
